What is the dependent and independent variable in this question?

So i'm working on a science inquiry and i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the dependent and the independent variables are in this question?:

Q: Does the slope of a track make a golf ball鈥檚 speed faster if the slope is steeper and slower if the slope is flatter? What is the dependent and independent variable in this question?
Independent Variable = slope of track of golf ball

Dependent Variable = golf ball's speedWhat is the dependent and independent variable in this question?
The speed of a golf ball DEPENDS ON the gradient of the track, and not the other way around. How fast it runs downhill DEPENDS ON how steep the hill is.

That makes speed the DEPENDENT variable.

It wouldn't make any sense to say. "The steepness of the track depends on how fast a golf ball will roll down it."

The independent variable is the degree of slope of the track.

EXTRA CREDIT: You can try testing balls of different sizes or weights to see if there is any difference in how fast they run down the same gradient.

For example, you might test the hypothesis: "Does a heavy ball get to the bottom faster than a light one?"
