Does a science project only has to have one independent variable?

I'm doing a science project where I experiment if the temperature affects how long it will take for an Alka-Seltzer tablet to melt.

Isn't the water and the Alka-Seltzer tablet both independent variables because the temperature of the water changes and the Alka-Seltzer tablet dissolves into nothing.

PLZ answer my project is due the 25th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Does a science project only has to have one independent variable?
The independent variable is the temperature of the water. That is the variable you control and change.

The dependent variable is how long it takes the tablet to dissolve. Assuming all the other variables are unchanged (amount of water, size of tablet, shape of container for water, etc.), how long it takes to dissolve will depend on the temperature of the water.Does a science project only has to have one independent variable?
no, there is only one independent variable, the temperature. the independent variable is the one you manipulate; you actively manipulate the temperature of the water. The dissolution of the tablet is a consequence of this manipuation and the time it takes is the dependent variable.
