Which is the dependent and independent variable?

I'm doing a paper on gender, income and education (it shows that even with higher education women tend to earn less then men). What would be dependent and independent variables be? Should one of the three be labeled as a control? Thanks!Which is the dependent and independent variable?
An independent variable is something that is NOT affected by anything else in the world. A good example is time. Time continues even if it's raining or even when you're sleeping.. it doesn't care about anything else.

Therefore, a dependent variable is something that IS affected by something else. Example: The amount of rain fall in an hour. The amount is dependent on the hour (time) because without the hour then no rain will fall. Sorry I'm not very good at explaining this.

So, for your paper - Income is dependent on gender (because you make more as a man than as a woman). Education, I think, is just a factor, is that what a control is? A woman with an education might make more money than a woman without an education but not as much as a man with/without an education.

Good Luck.Which is the dependent and independent variable?
The Independent variable is the one that YOU willingly change, so... in this case it would be.. gender AND education

The Dependent Variable is the one that you MEASURE soo..... income

None of them are a controlWhich is the dependent and independent variable?
an independent variable is something that you change

A dependent variable depends on the independent variable/the one the independent variable affects

So, the independent variable=gender %26amp; education

dependent=income

this is because you are trying to see whether gender and education affect income

there is no control variable

hope this helps:)
