HomeworkHelp What is the manipulated/independent variable?

Alright, I'm doing my project on how detergents affect plant growth.

Would you please give me the Manipulated/Independent variable and Responding/dependant variable: since I do not understand the meaning of them? I googled what it was and spent like 24 minutes reading but still dont understand. Also, whats the experiment for it?HomeworkHelp What is the manipulated/independent variable?
dependant variable: how much the plant grows

independant variable: the type of detergentHomeworkHelp What is the manipulated/independent variable?
The manipulated variable is what you change on purpose, which would be the amount of detergent in this case.

The responding variable is the measurement of change based on the manipulated variable. It depends what you want to use, maybe plant height (cm) or time it takes to sprout (days, hours), etc.

For the experiment, I would test a cup with just water, and a cup with water and detergent. Make sure you only change one thing!!! If you put water in one, you have to put it in the other. Put them in the same place at the same time so they get equal light, etc.

Hope this helps!!!
