What would be the independent variable and dependent variable?

If I were conducting a scientific study and my hypothesis was: As Grandma ages, she won't punch me so much because I will have to take care of when she is too frail to take care of herself.

What would be the independent and dependent variables?What would be the independent variable and dependent variable?
independent=age

dependent(depends on independent)=frequency of punchesWhat would be the independent variable and dependent variable?
Independent: you

Dependent: grandma

your grandma is dependent of you to take care of her when she's older.What would be the independent variable and dependent variable?
Independent variable: age and frailty

Dependent variable: amount of punches

The independent variable is what is controlled or manipulated.

The dependent variable is what is being measured.

Even though you are not controlling her aging and increasing frailty, you are trying to see if it is affecting the dependent variable. Therefore, age and frailty would be the independent variable. The dependent variable is what you are measuring. You are measuring how frequent her punches are as she grows older and becomes more frail. Therefor, the frequency of punches would be the answer.

Hope that helps!
