The key differences between an independent variable, a dependent variable, a constant, and?

I need to learn how to distinguish the key differences between an independent variable, a dependent variable, a constant, and a control. Can someone please help? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank's for your time!

BA gets 10 pointsThe key differences between an independent variable, a dependent variable, a constant, and?
Independent variable- it is the variable that affects the dependent variable

Dependent variable- it is the variable that changes due to the independent variable

Constant- the variable(s) that is kept the same throughout the experiment

Control- all the set-ups has about the same variables as this set-upThe key differences between an independent variable, a dependent variable, a constant, and?
In terms of a graph or Cartesian plane, the dependent variables are on the x axis. These are the values that you can change at any time, and the rule for calculating the other (or y) value doesn't change.

The dependant variables are situated on the y axis on a graph. These values are determined using a rule containing the independent variables, or x axis values.

A constant is a special number that is "significantly interesting in some way". They include e and 蟺. I'm sorry I couldn't explain that better!

I don't know exactly what a control is, what area of mathematics is it used in?The key differences between an independent variable, a dependent variable, a constant, and?
independent variable is the variable you change in the experiment. dependent variable is the factor that changes, depending on the independent variable for it to happen. constant is not changed all throughout the experiment. control[if its control setup] is the original circumstance that we use in order to compare results.
EG: 3 glasses of same size/shape/material are filled halfway with water. glass A is filled with warm water, glass B with hot water, glass C with cold water. Anna puts in 3 teaspoons of salt in each and stirs each glass 3 times. which glass dissolves salt the fastest?
independent is temperature of the water
dependent is how fast the salt dissolves
constant: kind/shape/size of glass, amount of water, amount of salt, amount of stirs
i don't think control setup is applicable for this one ;)
