What would be the independent variable in this experiment?

I want to do an experiment on weather highlighting the word or simply looking at the word/terms which one would a person better memorize...what would have a better effect of the memory?



So what would be the independent variable?

If you were to artificially control the weather in some way (e.g., you, as the researcher, control the temperature of the room in which your participants perform their memory task) temperature would be your independent variable.



However, if you are simply planning to compare memory on day one (say a day with thunderstorms) to day two (say a sunny day), you are doing CORRELATIONAL - not experimental - research. In such a case, you have no independent variable.
