I need to know if the independent variable is the plants and animals around the water and the dependent variable is the water?I am doing a project on water clarity and i need to know what the independent and dependent variable?
The independent variable is the one that you control. If you are adding or moving plants around water that then yes, plants would be your independent variable. If water is is what you are changing things around, yet leaving alone - it is your dependent variable aka: the variable that you are measuring.
You should have a control group. Water that you do nothing with adding or moving plants around. Just measure it as it is.
