Independent and dependent variable question for biology?

A botanist is curious to know if a carnivorous plant grows better with a diet of live flies or dead flies. He puts in a terrarium with live flies, and he puts 3 other plants in a terrarium and feeds the plants dead flies by hand. He measures the height of the plants at the start and end of the experiment.

Independent variable:

Dependent variable:

Control:

Constants:Independent and dependent variable question for biology?
The independant variable is what you are looking for or what you dont have any control over. In this case its height.

The dependant variable is what you know or have control over, in this case, time.

The control is going to be what you are NOT testing for. In this case i think you can pick either one. Id pick the live flies as a control for dead flies as its closer to what happens in nature.

There really isnt a constant in this experiment but i guess you could say starting heightIndependent and dependent variable question for biology?
The independ. variable is actually defined as the treatment or condition under study. Therefore, in this case, it would be dead or alive flies. The depend. variable is the event or condition that is measured or observed %26amp; dependent on the independent variable. In this case, height.
